LET GOD HEAL THE HIDDEN WOUNDS
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord.
~Jeremiah 30:17 KJV
It’s easy to present a polished, well-maintained appearance to the world while carrying deep, unaddressed wounds within. We smile, serve, and show up; but inside we’re quietly struggling. That’s why we must never assume someone is whole simply because we’ve never seen them fall apart.
I once had a large round coffee cup my son used as a bowl for microwaving Ramen noodles. One day, while washing it, I noticed a crack inside. It didn’t seem very deep, and since the cup still held liquid without leaking, I kept using it.
Later, I poured used cooking oil into the cup. At first, everything seemed fine. But over time, the oil began to slowly seep through the crack. I didn’t notice until my husband pointed out the mess it was leaving behind.
When I checked, I saw the oil spilling out onto the counter. If he hadn’t spoken up, I might not have noticed it until the cup was nearly empty. He reminded me that he’d warned me previously that the cup wouldn’t last unless the crack was sealed.
I had overlooked the warning, waiting for the cup to visibly break before considering it no longer usable. What I hadn’t considered was the mess it could create or the damage it might cause if it shattered while someone was using it.
We often treat ourselves the same way. As long as we’re showing up for work, for church, or for family, we assume we’re fine. But some internal wounds such as offense, heartbreak, and grief run deep.
They do not always announce themselves. They seep out as irritability, as silence, as unexplained withdrawal; and they reveal the places we believed were sealed and unbreakable.
Like the cup, the damage isn’t sudden. It’s gradual. The oil didn’t rush through the crack; it seeped through unnoticed, until someone else spotted the mess.
Sometimes, it takes an outside voice or a moment of conviction for us to confront what we’ve been avoiding. But the moment we invite God into those broken places, the healing begins..
Psalm 147:3 reminds us:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
God doesn’t patch us up. He sees the cracks we’ve tried to ignore and restores us completely before the damage spreads and create chaos in our lives and in the lives of those connected to us.
You don’t have to keep pretending.
You don’t have to wait until everything falls apart.
Let Him strengthen what’s fragile.
Let Him repair what’s deeply hidden.
Let Him restore you completely and make you whole again from the inside out!
